i tried to write a paragraph on 5 year old me and sailor moon but it snowballed into this: the movie: the videogame

The first thing we were told to do in Character Design class was to draw the character that inspired us most as a kid. The majority of the girls drew Sailor Moon, and the professor remarked that it had been the same in a couple other classes. Our program is very focused on Western animation; he couldn’t grasp the appeal. 90% leg, 1% skirt; aggressively anime. The 90’s was brimming with fantastic, appealing character driven animation; what stood out about this character?

I’m not trying to offer a deep, factual analysis of Sailor Moon, just what it was to me and some friends (so take this as you will). I don’t have a vast knowledge of the SM Universe, it was just a show I grew up with; the DiC dub started airing on YTV when I was 2, one of my first memories was dressing up as Sailor Moon for Halloween. My brother remembers it being on TV when we were kids; last summer he’d remarked that he’d never let his figurative daughter watch Sailor Moon, because of the length of her skirt; these characters were schoolgirls, after all. These characters were children as well.

Anonymous: Hey! Sorry to bother you, I know it's your personal blog but I was wondering why you usually delete your text posts?

oh! well, i don’t really feel like showcasing personal posts unless they’re answering someone/relevant in the long haul. i don’t feel bad for them, just like to chat sometimes! i’m going to start tagging them with #marposts instead of #personal so it’ll be easier to filter them. no worries! feel free to drop me messages.

another fun world religions story: we had on iconography project where we basically had to write a couple paragraphs in word and design an icon to represent our world view, and i wrote this passage on burnt, tea-stained paper in old english with a fountain pen about the All Seeing Eye of Buscemi and how though his eyes grew weary with the hardships he witnessed on the road to success Saint Steve struggled onward to become the patriarch of the Buscemites and left the professor a note saying i didn’t have time to write the paragraphs but i found these tattered remains of an ancient religious text hidden under my floorboards stuffed into an old reservoir dogs VHS tape and he gave me the highest mark in the class and kept the project

Anonymous: Babur should have kept the glasses, would have made him look 12 kinds of cool.

I think he would, he just doesn’t wear them in fights!
